"It's been absolutely amazing. I've had the best time ever and I don't want to see any of [the other contestants] get eliminated, so I guess it all works out," Danica said following her ouster.
"It's been amazing. She's a great, great person -- works really hard and embraces the process. She's a great individual. We've had some fascinating conversations and it's been a blast!" Val said.
"And thank you, Val, for everything. You taught me so much," Danica added.
Danica and Val danced before the round of results were revealed, so they earned 72 out of 80 total possible points for their individual dance and "Dance Duel" from the show's judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli as well as guest judge and Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller. Their total score landed them in fifth place on the judges' leaderboard out of six couples.
Danica and Val danced an individual tango routine which received 38 out of 40 possible points from the judging panel. They also danced the samba in a duel with Sochi Olympics ice dancing gold medalist Meryl Davis and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Each pairing earned 34 out of 40 possible points to add to their individual score.
Meryl and Maksim also performed an individual rumba routine worthy of 36 points, leaving them with a total of 70 points for the night. They therefore landed in sixth -- and last -- place on the leaderboard.
James Maslow, a Nickelodeon star and Big Time Rush singer, and partner Peta Murgatroyd were also in jeopardy of elimination last night. In addition to their 36-point Viennese waltz, the couple received 39 points for their "Dance Duel" jive with double-amputee snowboarding champion Amy Purdy and partner Derek Hough. James and Peta's total was 75 points, putting them in third place on Monday night's leaderboard.
Amy and Derek finished in first place on the leaderboard with 79 total points. They danced an individual Argentine tango which received a perfect score of 40 points and then followed it up with their "Dance Duel," which added 39 points to their score.
Second place on the judges' leaderboard went to Sochi Olympics ice dancing gold medalist Charlie White and partner Sharna Burgess with 78 total points. Charlie and Sharna performed an individual quickstep routine that earned 40 points from the judges and then an additional 38 points for their contemporary "Dance Duel" with Candace Cameron Bure, an actress and former Full House star, and partner Mark Ballas.
Candace and Mark first took the stage with an individual foxtrot routine which received 36 points from the judges. When added to their 38 points from the "Dance Duel," the couple finished in fourth place on the night's leaderboard with 74 total points.
