Dancing with the Stars eliminated David Hasselhoff and his professional partner Kym Johnson during Tuesday night's first live eleventh-season results show on ABC.

"Oh!  Baby, we tried.  Give me a hug honey!" the 58-year-old actor and former America's Got Talent judge told Johnson after Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron announced their elimination.

Hasselhoff and Johnson were ousted from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they received during Monday night's performance show and the home viewer votes that were cast afterwards.

"It's been a great ride," Hasselhoff said.  "I feel bad for Kym because she worked so hard to try and get me where I was going.  And I'm just so proud [that] my daughters are here and they got to see me go this far."

"I got to tell you, of all the first people to leave in all the seasons I've hosted, this was the biggest surprise to me and we're going to miss you," Bergeron told Hasselhoff.

Hasselhoff and Johnson had finished tied for last place on Monday night's judging leaderboard after receiving only 15 out of 30 points for their cha cha routine from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli.

"You know, it's almost like America's Got Talent payback.  Because now I'm going through what all those kids went through, I'm going 'I want to come back!'" Hasselhoff told Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke before his elimination.  "If we make it we make it, if we don't we don't."

Disney Channel star Kyle Massey and partner Lacey Schwimmer were the other couple still in danger of elimination prior to Hasselhoff and Johnson's ouster, however Bergeron noted they were not necessarily the other couple in the bottom two based on the combination of the judges' scoring and home viewer votes from Monday night's performances.

Massey and Schwimmer had finished tied for second place on Monday night's judging leaderboard after receiving 23 points for their cha cha.

Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough had topped Dancing with the Stars' judging leaderboard after they received 24 out of 30 possible points for their Viennese waltz.

Singer and former America's Got Talent judge Brandy Norwood and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy had finished tied for second place with Massey and Schwimmer after receiving 23 points for their Viennese waltz.

Former NBA basketball player Rick Fox and partner Cheryl Burke had ranked fourth on the leaderboard and  rounded out its top tier with 22 points for their Viennese waltz.

Only four points had separated the bottom eight couples on the judges' leaderboard.

Hasselhoff and Johnson had finished tied for last place with actress and comedian Margaret Cho and partner Louis van Amstel as well as Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino and partner Karina Smirnoff.  Cho and van Amstel performed a Viennese waltz while Sorrentino and Smirnoff danced a cha cha.

Singer Michael Bolton and partner Chelsie Hightower had finished in ninth place after they received 16 points for their Viennese waltz.

Teen mom Bristol Palin and partner Mark Ballas had received 18 points for their cha cha -- the same score as actress Florence Henderson and Ballas' father Corky Ballas received for their own cha cha, leaving both teams tied for seventh place on the judges' leaderboard.

Fifth place had also represented a tie, with former The Hills star Audrina Patridge and partner Tony Dovolani and recently retired NFL quarterback Kurt Warner and partner Anna Trebunskaya each finishing with 19 points.  Patridge and Dovolani danced a cha cha while Warner and Trebunskaya performed a Viennese waltz.
