Dancing with the Stars eliminated Hope Solo and professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy during Tuesday night's thirteenth-season results show on ABC.

The American women's soccer star and Chmerkovskiy became the ninth couple ousted from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they had received during Monday night's semifinals performance show, the ninth performance show of Dancing with the Stars' thirteenth season, and the home viewer votes that were cast afterwards.

"This competition is one of the toughest competitions I've ever been a part of," Solo told Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke when asked how proud she was of herself for making it to the semifinals.

"I'm grateful. It was an amazing opportunity. There's so many people to thank -- my dear friends, my family -- we have the most amazing fan base, and you know what? I'm going to go back and try, instead of winning the mirrorball trophy, I'm going to go and try to win a gold medal I think. Why not repeat right?!"

"Thank you for your determination and the will and everything else, and I'm sorry, I wish I could have been better for you, but it is what it is," Chmerkovskiy told Solo. "It's been an amazing journey, and thank you to all the fans. The fans have been incredible. Thank you guys."

"Maks was amazing, the producer of the show. I have to thank for Maks for casting me to be on your show," Solo joked.

Monday night's performance show featured the Top 4 finalists dancing two routines -- including an Argentine tango in which they were allowed to do lifts -- that were each eligible to receive up to 30 possible points from Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli, and then participating in an additional "cha cha relay" competition in which they performed short routines to the same song in sequence as they vied for bonus points.

The couple who danced the best cha cha received 10 points from the judges, while the second, third and fourth-place pairs received eight, six and four points respectively.

Solo and Chmerkovskiy had finished in fourth -- and last place -- on Monday night's judging leaderboard with 49 out of 70 possible points after they received the lowest amount of points, four points, for their "cha cha relay" routine. Before they competed in the "cha cha relay," the couple danced a paso doble which received 21 points from the judges and followed it with an Argentine tango that earned 24 points.

Iraqi war veteran and former All My Children soap star J.R. Martinez and partner Karina Smirnoff were the other couple still in danger of elimination prior to Solo and Chmerkovskiy's ouster, however Burke noted they were not necessarily the other couple in the bottom two based on the combination of the judges' scoring and home viewer votes from Monday night's performance show.

Martinez and Smirnoff had finished in third place on the judges' leaderboard with 56 total points. After dancing a paso doble routine that earned 23 points, the pair returned to the dance floor and performed an Argentine tango which received 27 points from the judges and then participated in the "cha cha relay" which tacked on six additional points to their individual scores.

Former talk show host Ricki Lake and partner Derek Hough had topped the judges' leaderboard and finished in first place after they performed a samba routine which received a perfect 30-point score from the judges and later followed it with an Argentine tango that earned 29 points. They also came in second place during the "cha cha relay," receiving eight additional points -- which vaulted them into first place on the leaderboard with 67 total points.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians sibling Rob Kardashian and partner Cheryl Burke had finished in second place on the leaderboard -- the highest rank they've had on the judges' leaderboard all season.

Kardashian and Burke received 28 points for their samba routine and 27 points for their Argentine tango. However, they finished the "cha cha relay" in first place and earned an additional 10 points from the judges, boosting their way into second place Monday night with 65 total points.
