Dancing with the Stars pro Peta Murgatroyd expected higher scores from the judges this week for her tango with Nick Viall to "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga for "Vegas Night."

"I loved our performance. I felt like he was so much better than last week," Peta told E! News of Nick following Monday night's show.

Peta and The Bachelor star are working really hard so far on Season 24, but their effort does not seem to reflect in their scores from Dancing with the Stars judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough, Bruno Tonioli, and Len Goodman.

In Week 1 of the competition, Nick and Peta landed in seventh place on the judges' leaderboard. After a dip to ninth place in Week 2, the couple returned to seventh place last night -- and they were in jeopardy of elimination with Charo and partner Keo Motsepe, who ultimately went home.

"We did so much more content, he improved so much, he wasn't as nervous, it was just an all-around better dance for us," Peta gushed about the couple's routine, which only earned 26 out of 40 points from the judges.

Peta and Nick's score of 26 was comprised of two 6's from Len and Bruno, as well as two 7's from Julianne and Carrie Ann.

However, the judges complimented Nick's overall improvement, his "regal presence," and his apparent "strength and power" in the routine, so Peta admitted the low scores were a little surprising.

"I really thought we could've gotten better scores, but that's how it goes," Peta confessed to E! News. "I'm just going to take the criticism and move onto next week and make sure it's nice and fluid for next week."

Nick said that being one of the bottom two couples on Monday night's show -- although their position wasn't necessarily based on the judges' scores and America's vote from last week -- was "certainly nerve-racking."

"I don't take anything for granted on this show, so, you know, onto the next," Nick said after the show, adding that all he wanted to do in Week 3 was improve and get better, which he accomplished.

Nick realized that having fun on the Dancing with the Stars stage and being relaxed makes him a much better ballroom dancer in general.
