Dancing with the Stars producers have decided to add an unusual item to tonight's results show agenda: Proving the studio audience was booing the show's judges, not Sarah Palin, during Monday night's live performance show.

Monday night's Dancing with the Stars broadcast featured the studio audience suddenly booing as co-host Brooke Burke interviewed actress Jennifer Grey and professional partner Derek Hough backstage seconds after judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli each gave them 8 out of 10 possible points for their jive routine.
Given the audience had applauded as the judges revealed their scores and they were the best of the night, the boos had confused Grey, Hough and Burke.
"There's booing in the ballroom, we don't know why," Burke said after she finished promoting Grey and Hough's home voting information.
"Why is there booing?" Grey asked.
"I don't know," Burke replied.
However the broadcast then immediately cut to a segment in which Bergeron began a brief interview with Palin, who was in the studio audience to watch her daughter Bristol Palin compete on the show -- causing many viewers and media outlets to conclude the audience had been booing the controversial former Alaskan governor and vice presidential candidate.
"It was sort of the ballroom equivalent of the Shirley Sherrod tape," Bergeron told EW, referring to the recent out-of-context video footage incident that forced to Sherrod resign from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
"It was taken out of context. I can see how people made that assumption. That's the great thing about live TV. You never know what's going to happen. As innocuous as it may be, sitting down and talking to the mom of one of the contestants, regardless of her notoriety, it's turned into this major imbroglio. You gotta love that!"
