While there reportedly have not been any specific threats, Dancing with the Stars has added additional security in response to the controversial reaction to Bono's participation -- a response network executives have described as "an element of hatred" amongst some viewers.
According to TMZ, Bono will not only receive extra security when he's at Dancing with the Stars' television studio, but he will also be highly protected when he is off-set as well
Bono is not the first time Dancing with the Stars has taken extra measures to protect a contestant.
Last year, the show beefed up its security for eleventh-season contestant Bristol Palin after she received death threats. It also took similar action in 2009 after an armed stalker -- who was later found to be legally insane -- drove cross-country and attempted to sneak into the studio to possibly kidnap eventual eighth-season champion Shawn Johnson, whom he had hoped to marry.
