Dancing with the Stars shockingly axed Christina Milian and her professional partner Mark Ballas during Monday night's live seventeenth-season broadcast on ABC.

The singer and former The Voice social media correspondent and Ballas became the fourth couple eliminated from the competition based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they had received during last night's performance show -- which featured the couples dedicating a routine to the most memorable years of their lives -- and the home viewer votes that were cast following last Monday night's episode.

"Honestly, it's a true shock," Milian said following her ouster.

"I wasn't expecting that, but you know what? We had, I think, the best performance tonight that we've had thus far, and if I had to leave on any other note, it would be this way... I've made some great memories, great friends here. Everyone has been fantastic and I've learned a lot about myself just being here. It's been amazing. If you take a challenge and take a great risk, you become a better person, so I'm really happy I did this."

"I'm just very proud of Christina," Ballas added. "We worked really hard and she did great tonight. And you just went out with a bang! Great job, baby. I love you."

Milian and Ballas finished tied for first place on Monday night's leaderboard with Disney Channel star Corbin Bleu and partner Karina Smirnoff after both couples earned 28 out of 30 possible points from Dancing with the Stars judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli.

Milian and Ballas danced the cha cha in a tribute to the year 2010 when Milian gave birth to her daughter and got a divorce because her husband had been unfaithful to her. They received the first 10 of the season from Goodman.

Bleu and Smirnoff performed a foxtrot routine and Bleu dedicated it to the year 2011 when his younger sister was diagnosed with Scoliosis but has remained strong and an inspiration to her family ever since. Bleu and Smirnoff also earned a 10 from Tonioli.

Actress and former The Talk co-host Leah Remini and partner Tony Dovolani were the other couple still in danger of elimination prior to Milian and Ballas' ouster, although Dancing with the Stars co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet revealed Remini and Dovolani weren't necessarily one of the bottom-two couples based on the judges' scores and America's vote.

Remini and Dovolani landed at the bottom of last night's leaderboard with 22 points after they danced a contemporary piece. Remini attributed her performance to the year 2012 when she experienced major life changes but found the strength to overcome them.

Third place represented a tie at 27 points amongst three celebrities: Former The Osbournes and Armed & Famous star Jack Osbourne, Jersey Shore and Snooki & Jwoww star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and actor and Pretty Little Liars star Brant Daugherty.

Osbourne and partner Cheryl Burke performed the waltz in memory of the year 2012 when Osbourne's daughter was born and he was also diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Polizzi and partner Sasha Farber danced a jazz routine, which Polizzi dedicated to 2012 when she gave birth to her son Lorenzo.

Daugherty and partner Peta Murgatroyd took the stage with a contemporary routine in a tribute to the year 2009 when Daugherty had moved to Hollywood to become an actor and his father had passed away from lymphoma.

Two couples tied for sixth place on Monday night's leaderboard: Actress and former Step It Up and Dance host Elizabeth Berkley and partner Val Chmerkovskiy and Glee star Amber Riley and partner Derek Hough.

Both couples earned 26 points for their routines. Berkley and Chmerkovskiy danced the jive and she dedicated it to the years 2012 -- when her son was born -- and 1989 when Berkley found success in Hollywood with Saved by the Bell.
  
Riley and Hough performed the foxtrot in memory of the year 2009 when Riley had been turned down from American Idol but booked a role on the big hit show Glee. The pair received a 10 from Tonioli.

Comedian Bill Engvall and partner Emma Slater finished in eighth place on the judges' leaderboard with 24 points after they performed a Viennese waltz as a tribute to the year 1982 when Engvall got married.

The eight remaining seventeenth-season Dancing with the Stars couples will return for another two-hour performance show on Monday, October 21, during which the night's scores from the judges and the home viewer voting results cast following last night's show will be combined and one more couple will be eliminated.
