Several former American Idol finalists received 2007 American Music Awards nominations on Tuesday, including fourth-season champ Carrie Underwood, third-season winner Fantasia Barrino, and fifth-season fourth-place finisher Chris Daughtry.

Daughtry received 2007 AMA nominations for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist, where it will compete against Norah Jones and John Mayer, as well as Favorite Breakthrough Artist, where the band will face Plain White T's and Robin Thicke.
Daughtry's self-titled debut album was also nominated for Favorite Pop or Rock Album and is pitted against Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight" and Justin Timberlake's "FutureSex/Love Sounds."
Underwood is no stranger to being honored at the American Music Awards, winning Favorite New Breakthrough Artist in 2006 and also being nominated for Favorite Country Female Artist. This year, Underwood was once again nominated in the Favorite Country Female Artist category -- where she'll face Martina McBride and Taylor Swift.
In addition, her debut album "Some Hearts" was also nominated for Favorite Country Album and is pitted against Tim McGraw's "Let It Go" and Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang."
Fantasia -- who is currently playing the role of Miss Celie in Oprah Winfrey's Tony Award-winning Broadway show The Color Purple -- received a 2007 AMA nomination for Favorite Female Soul/R&B Artist, where she'll compete against two other one-name singers, Beyonce and Rihanna.
Fantasia previously received 2005 AMA nominations for Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist as well as for Favorite Soul/R&B Album for "Free Yourself."
In addition, the Dreamgirls soundtrack landed a 2007 AMA nomination for Favorite Soundtrack. Idol 3 seventh-place finisher Jennifer Hudson -- who won an Academy Award for her for her portrayal of Effie White in Dreamgirls -- contributed to the film's soundtrack.
The 2007 American Music Awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, November 18 at 8PM ET on ABC from Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre. For the first time in the award show's 35-year history, winners will be determined by online voting via ABC's website. Fans votes will be collected until November 1.
