David Archuleta wanted to say thanks to his hometown supporters via a concert until American Idol reportedly pulled the plug on the plan.

Like his fellow seventh-season finalists, the 17-year-old from Murray, UT is currently under contract with 19 Entertainment.
"They're just going to reschedule the event for a later time," Archuleta's father -- and self-described "musical consultant" -- Jeff told The Salt Lake Tribune in a Tuesday report. "When all the minds met, everyone concluded this wouldn't work out for this particular weekend, and they just want to reschedule it for toward the middle or the end of the [American Idol Live 2008] tour."
The Friday concert had been billed by Jeff as "the only chance [Archuleta's] going to get to just thank people, and it seemed appropriate to do so," according to The Tribune.
Tickets were scheduled to be sold beginning Wednesday through Ticketmaster for $1 apiece -- with one quarter of proceeds going to service charges and three-quarters benefiting the Multiple Sclerosis Society and Make-a-Wish Foundation.
While Friday's show has been scrapped, Archuleta and the rest of Idol's Top 10 seventh-season finalists will perform at the E Center on July 14 and 15 as part of the American Idol Live 2008 49-date concert tour. Tickets for the July 14 show are already sold-out.
