David Ross surprised himself on Dancing with the Stars by making it to the Season 24 finals.

David, who is partnered with pro Lindsay Arnold on Dancing with the Stars, is the first pro baseball player to ever appear on the ABC show. At age 39, with little to no dance experience, David managed to survive week after week of eliminations.

Now, David is up against Fifth Harmony member Normani Kordei and NFL free agent Rashad Jennings in the two-night May 22-23 finale.

David is a recently retired MLB catcher who currently works as a special assistant for the Chicago Cubs team and TV baseball analyst for ESPN, but what else do we know about him?

- David was born on March 19 in Bainbridge, GA, in 1977. He attended Florida State University's laboratory school, Florida High School, in Tallahassee.

- David once made a special appearance with actor and comedian Bill Murray, 66, on Saturday Night Live. The pair, along with two fellow Cubs players, performed a rendition of their team's theme song "Go Cubs Go" on the show.

- David has a memoir published by Hachette Books that was released on May 9, 2017 titled Teammate: My Journey in Baseball and a World Series for the Ages.

- He is one of few players to play in the College World Series with two different colleges, first with the Auburn University Tigers in Alabama in 1997, and then with the University of Florida Gators in 1998.

- David is married to his high school sweetheart, Hyla Ross, and the couple has three children together: Landri, Cole and Harper.

- The DWTS contestant launched his major league baseball career by playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002.

He later joined the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Cincinnati Reds, the Kansas City Royals, the Boston Red Sox, the Atlanta Braves, and the Chicago Cubs.
