David Ross and his professional partner Lindsay Arnold are one of five couples remaining on Dancing with the Stars' 24th season having survived seven weeks of competition already.

David, 39, probably never expected to make it this far, but he's certainly holding his own against some tough competitors, including the bubbly and energetic Simone Biles and the very smooth Rashad Jennings.

David is a recently retired MLB catcher who became the first pro baseball player to ever compete on Dancing with the Stars this season. He currently works as a special assistant for the Chicago Cubs team and TV baseball analyst for ESPN.

David thought he was going home last week, but The Bachelor star Nick Viall and iconic figure skater Nancy Kerrigan were eliminated instead. Will there be another upset on the next Monday night show during which the couples must each perform two complete routines? Will David advance to the semi-finals?

- David was born in Bainbridge, GA, in 1977. He attended Florida State University's laboratory school, Florida High School, in Tallahassee.

- He is one of few players to play in the College World Series with two different colleges, first with the Auburn University Tigers in Alabama in 1997, and then with the University of Florida Gators in 1998.

- David is married to his high school sweetheart, Hyla Ross, and the couple has three children together: Landri, Cole and Harper.

- The DWTS contestant launched his major league baseball career by playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002.

He later went on to win two World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2013 and then the Chicago Cubs in 2016. He became the oldest player -- at 39 -- to hit a home run in Game 7 of the World Series last year.
