"I am truly sorry for the mistakes I have made and for the pain I've caused my family," McDermott, 47, told People in a statement.

"I take full responsibility for my actions and have voluntarily checked myself into a treatment center to address some health and personal issues. I am grateful to be getting the help I need so I can become the husband and father my family deserves."

According to sources, the former Tori & Dean star is undergoing intense treatment but reportedly allowed to visit his four children at their house on occasion. McDermott's children with Spelling are Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 15 months. He also has a 15-year-old son Jack from a previous marriage.

"Their priority right now is their children," a source told People.

Spelling, 40, was "devastated" and "heartbroken" after news spread of McDermott's alleged cheating affair, Us Weekly reported.

During the weekend of December 7, McDermott was in Toronto as part of a press tour to promote the new reality show Chopped Canada for which he'll serve as host. While away, McDermott allegedly had sex with a woman named Emily Goodhand, 28.

"He told me he and Tori had a sexless marriage. I believed him," Goodhand admitted to Us, adding that they "absolutely" used protection when hooking up.

"He was romantic and very complimentary... I'm sorry. I f-cked up."

McDermott and Spelling have been married for seven years. They met on a movie set in 2005 but both individuals were married to other people at the time.

After a three-week affair, they left their spouses and wed in May 2006. Because of the way the pair's relationship began, Spelling has always reportedly feared McDermott would be unfaithful to her.
