Derek, although JoJo found him kind and genuine, rubbed some of the guys the wrong way on The Bachelorette, including his current Paradise castmate Alex Woytkiw, who had called Derek a "sensitive little b-tch" when he looked for reassurance from JoJo during a group date.
But Derek is all confidence in Paradise, and he hit it off quickly with one of the villains from Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor, Taylor Nolan. From the first day they met at Playa Escondida in Mexico, Taylor and Derek became inseparable, so this may definitely be a match made in heaven.
