American Idol eliminated Didi Benami and determined its Top 9 ninth-season finalists during Wednesday night's live results show broadcast on Fox.

Benami was given a chance to sing for "The Judges' Save" after American Idol host Ryan Seacrest revealed her status as the week's lowest vote-getter, however the judges declined to use the single-use twist to prevent her elimination.
"Just say I'm saved," Didi joked as the judges looked at each other and continued stalling after she finished singing Fleetwood Mac's "Rhiannon," which she had previously performed to good feedback during American Idol's semifinals.
"Yes, yes. You can also say safe, yes," noted Seacrest, who was presumably aware the live show had already gone past its one-hour broadcast time and was running several minutes over.
"Didi, it's bad news sweetheart. We're not going to save you, sorry," Simon Cowell finally announced.
"Okay," Benami replied.
"But I've got to tell you, it was million times better than what you did last night," Cowell added.
"Yeah," Randy Jackson agreed.
"It was," Kara DioGuardi added.
"Thanks," Benami replied.
"You are a very brave young lady, congratulations on making it this far. You've worn your heart on your sleeve this entire season, you should be very, very proud," Seacrest said.
Benami's had performed Jimmy Ruffin's "What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted" to poor reviews from all four American Idol judges during Tuesday night's live broadcast.

"I love this song but the whole performance kind of flatlined for me, you never really moved from here," Jackson said. "It just wasn't great. I was waiting for any kind of moment."
"Alright, I'm going to boo myself. Booo!" Ellen DeGeneres said. "I just thought that was way dramatic. Way dramatic and not your best performance."
Even though she hadn't finished among the bottom three vote-getters during the finals' two previous rounds, DioGuardi had gone as far as to predict Benami's exit.
"It's over [and] done girl," she told Benami after her Tuesday night performance. "And I'm just so confused... You've changed, you've lost your way. Your vision is not what it was and I don't know who you are anymore."
"I think Kara's right, you've completely and utterly lost your way," Cowell added. "You've no longer made yourself contemporary, everything's too old-fashioned. And if you listen to one of those dancing shows, they always have a singer murdering a song on it. That's what kind of -- if you've ever watched it -- sounded like."
Prior to Benami's elimination, Timothy "Tim" Urban, a 20-year-old college student from Duncanville, TX, and Katie Stevens, a 17-year-old high school student from Middlebury, CT -- who had both also been part of last week's bottom three vote-getters -- were revealed to be the other members of this week's bottom three vote-getters.
Seacrest then revealed Stevens was safe, leaving Benami and Urban -- who was also a member of the Top 12 performance round's bottom threesome two weeks ago -- still facing elimination from American Idol.
In addition to Stevens and Urban, Crystal Bowersox, Lee Dewyze, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, and Siobhan Magnus also still remain in the running to be crowned American Idol's ninth-season champion.
