Discovery Channel has announced Man vs. Wild's third season, which will continue to follow survival expert Bear Grylls as he battles the elements at various locations around the world, will premiere Wednesday, August 6 at 10PM ET/PT.

Grylls and Man vs. Wild received some criticism from the media and fans prior to the show's second-season debut last November.
Following an investigation by the U.K.'s Channel 4 -- which broadcasts the reality series under the title Born Survivor: Bear Grylls in Britain -- Discovery Channel decided to air re-edited versions of Man vs. Wild's first season to acknowledge that some of the scenes in the episodes had been staged.
Discovery subsequently implemented a voiceover during segments of the re-edited first-season episodes in which viewers were originally led to believe Grylls didn't receive any off-camera assistance; while second-season episodes were edited from the start to highlight the production crew's role in assisting Grylls.
Serving as the lead-in for Man vs. Wild third-season episodes in the Wednesdays at 9PM ET/PT will be new episodes of Mythbusters, which will continue to follow special effects experts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage as they debunk urban legends and tall tales.
In addition to Man vs. Wild and Mythbusters, Discovery also announced Smash Lab's second season will premiere Tuesday, August 5 at 10PM ET/PT and Some Assembly Required's second season will debut Thursday, August 7 at 9PM ET/PT.
