Showtime said in a press release Wednesday that it acquired the rights to the BBC comedy from Big Deal Films and A24.

Dreaming Whilst Black is co-created, co-written by and stars Adjani Salmon. The show is based on the web series and BBC pilot and officially premiered on BBC Three last week.

Dreaming Whilst Black follows Kwabena (Salmon), "an aspiring filmmaker stuck in a dead-end recruitment job who takes the first step to achieving his dream. However, he is quickly confronted with the tribulations of balancing finances, love and his own sense of reality," an official synopsis reads.

Dani Moseley, Demmy Ladipo, Rachel Adedeji, Babirye Bukilwa, Alexander Owen and Will Hislop also star.

Salmon executive produces with Dhanny Joshi and Thomas Stogdon.

Dreaming Whilst Black will have a two-episode premiere Sept. 8 on Paramount+ and Sept. 10 at 10 p.m. EDT on Showtime. The remaining episodes will be released weekly two at a time.
