He will depart the storied venue April 20, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Thursday.
Newton, 63, signed with the Stardust in October 1999 and the deal was advertised as the richest contract in Las Vegas history -- up to 40 weeks a year for 10 years with the potential of $25 million a year.
"I wouldn't change the experience I've had at the Stardust," Newton told the Review-Journal, adding Boyd Gaming Chairman Bill Boyd "and his people have provided one of the most rewarding times in my life both professionally and personally, and I wish them only the best."
