For this year's challenge, 67 teams from 23 countries will race across the South Island of New Zealand. The teams will be racing 24 hours a day for 12 straight days and will be required to cross 220 miles by mountaineering, using fixed ropes, rafting, mountain biking and horseback riding -- in short, they are allowed to only use non-motorized forms of transportation to reach their goal.

Holly Hunter ("Living Out Loud," "The Piano" ) has signed on to narrate "Eco-Challenge: New Zealand." This is the first time a woman will narrate the Eco-Challenge series.

The show was created by Mark Burnett -- the man behind "Survivor."
