"Empire" has given viewers a first glimpse of Mariah Carey's appearance on the Fox drama.

The preview sees Kitty appear to address an offscreen Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), remarking, "You always have a trick up your sleeve." It also shows the character in the recording studio with Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett).
Carey was announced as a guest star this month at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
The singer later told "Entertainment Tonight" her character isn't based on herself.
"It's not going to be Mariah Carey," she said. "We've had a couple of conversations and I think she is going to be pretty glamorous, but I don't know. We'll see."Carey has also collaborated with "Empire" creator Lee Daniels on his movies "Precious" and "The Butler."
The singer previously appeared on "Ally McBeal" and voiced characters on "American Dad."
