Paula Goodspeed, a 30-year-old former American Idol auditioneer and Paula Abdul fan, was found dead in her car nearby the American Idol judge's house on Tuesday evening.

According to the LAPD, the death appears to be a suicide caused by a drug overdose, People reported Wednesday.

The car that Goodspeed was found in had been registered to her. It was found a few houses down from Abdul's house and featured the license plate "ABL LV" and had a photo of Abdul hanging from its rear view mirror.

Police found the car after being notified of Goodspeed's disappearance by her mother.

"Ms. Goodspeed's mother had gone to [the sheriff's department] to report her daughter missing, and advised them that she might be suicidal," Los Angeles police Captain James Miller told People. "The sheriffs determined that Ms. Goodspeed may be up in the vicinity by Paula Abdul's house. Our officers discovered her vehicle parked on the street, and found her inside. She was unresponsive to officers."

While Abdul was not at her home at the time the body was found, she released a statement expressing sorrow and prayers after learning of the incident.

"I am deeply shocked and saddened at what transpired yesterday," Abdul said in a statement obtained by People. "My heart and prayers go out to her family."

Goodspeed had been featured during one of American Idol's fifth-season tryout shows. Her audition was expanded into a featurette that ran nearly four minutes and portrayed her obsession with Abdul during an interview with Idol host Ryan Seacrest.

"I really like Paula Abdul a lot. She's really cool," Goodspeed told Seacrest. "I'm a really big fan, and I made life-sized drawings of Paula. I've been drawing ever since I was a little kid, and my first drawing was of Paula Abdul."

Upon entering the audition wearing a bright pink dress, top and scarf and revealing that she had the same first name as Abdul, Simon Cowell's dry remark about how there was "a similarity" between Goodspeed and Abdul in more ways than just their names was taken as a compliment by Goodspeed.

"I take it as a compliment, because you're beautiful," she told Abdul.

However, after the judges laughed through her rendition of "Proud Mary," Goodspeed was met criticism from all three judges, with Randy Jackson calling it "terrible" and Cowell making fun of her braces.

"I don't think any artist on earth could sing that much metal in your mouth anyway," he told her.

Even Abdul couldn't spare a compliment for her as she attempted to be as nice as possible.

"Well Paula, I'm speechless... I don't know what to say," Abdul told Goodspeed following her performance.

"Is that good or bad?" asked Goodspeed.

"You know... No, it's not a great thing," Abdul responded.

Upon leaving the judges, an angry Goodspeed went into a expletive-ridden tirade.

"They can go (expletive), because I don't even care. I mean I was pitchy on couple of notes, big (expletive) deal. There's a lot of people they send to Hollywood who can't even hold a note," she told Idol's cameras.

"It's not over. I'm not gonna stop singing just because you don't like my voice," she added. "As far as you want original -- someone with a unique voice -- you just passed it up."
