Fox has announced that more than a dozen former American Idol finalists will help support Feeding America -- one of the Idol Gives Back fund-raising special's beneficiaries -- by volunteering at local food banks this week.

"Being a part of Idol was such a blessing, and I just want to give back in any way that I can," said former fifth-season finalist Elliott Yamin.

"There are so many people here and across the world who are in need of help, and people can help by supporting Idol Gives Back."

On Tuesday, Kimberley Locke, Didi Benami, David Hernandez, Amy Adams, Chikezie Eze, Mikalah Gordon, Elliott Yamin, Kevin Covais, Michael Johns, LaToya London and Brandon Rogers will pack food in boxes for senior citizens and young children in need at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank; while Megan Joy will assist volunteers with a food-drive donation at the Utah Food Bank in Salt Lake City.

Gina Glocksen and Amanda Overmyer will join a group of volunteers to pack disaster relief boxes at the Greater Chicago Food Depository on Wednesday, while Lacey Brown, Bucky Covington, Melinda Doolittle, Bo Bice, Phil Stacey and Mandisa Hundley will do the same at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee in Nashville and Blake Lewis will do it for Food Lifeline in Seattle.

On Thursday, Young, Diana Degarmo, Jorge Nunez, Julia DeMato and RJ Helton will deliver food with City Harvest to hungry New York City residents at the Jan His Presbyterian Church; Lakisha Jones will work with volunteers to inspect donated food and prepare it to be re-distributed to various agencies for the Houston Food Bank; and Melissa McGhee will help sort and package food with Feeding American Tampa Bay.

The week will close with Ruben Studdard labeling cans and packing boxes with United Way Community Food in Birmingham and Danny Gokey sorting through local food donations with volunteers at Three Square in Las Vegas.

Idol Gives Back's third fund-raising special will air on Wednesday, April 21 at 8PM ET/PT.
