"Dating Couple" Trey Wier and Alexis "Lexi" Beerman finished The Amazing Race's 21st season in third place during Sunday night's two-hour finale broadcast of the CBS reality competition.

"Goat Farmers and Life Partners" Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge were crowned the champions when they were the first team to cross the finish line in New York, NY, ultimately claiming the $1 million grand prize.

"Chippendales Dancers and Best Friends" Jaymes Vaughan and James Davis finished second. "Twin Sisters" Natalie Anderson and Nadiya Anderson finished the Race in fourth place, as they had been eliminated just shy of making it to the Final 3. They had arrived at the eleventh leg's Pit Stop in Loire Valley, France, in last place.
 
In an exclusive interview on Monday, Trey and Lexi talked to Reality TV World about their The Amazing Race experience. Below is the concluding portion of Trey and Lexi's interview. Click here to read the first half.

Reality TV World: Earlier in the season, you guys took half the $100 dollars Natalie and Nadiya had found after James LoMenzo and "Abba" Mark Abbattista accidentally dropped it. You've gotten a lot of unfortunate criticism from viewers for that move, so looking back on the incident, do you ultimately regret doing it or do you stand by your decision?

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: The way that came across on TV was not how it actually happened, unfortunately. CBS unfortunately promoted it as "stealing," and if anyone knows the rules of The Amazing Race, stealing is highly against the rules. You can't even go as far as touching someone else's bag or getting into someone's bag -- not like Survivor.

So, we found money, and with creative editing, it made it look like they basically tossed it onto a table. But we found the money and we weren't even 100% percent sure that it was Abba and James' money. We got permission to keep the money. We didn't want to do anything that was wrong. It could've been a camera man's. It could've been anyone's.

[Abbie Ginsberg] and [Ryan Danz] had been there previously. We didn't know whose money it was. So, we literally had zero guilt after that happened. And then watching it on television, it came across definitely different than it actually happened.

Reality TV World: Some viewers have said you should've been eliminated from the Race or have at least received a penalty of some kind. What are your thoughts on that, it clearly sounds like you disagree? And when you decided to split the money with Natalie and Nadiya, were you at least fearful in the moment something like that might happen to you guys upon arriving at the Pit Stop?

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: We asked producers, like we wanted to make sure that picking up money is okay. I mean, it was found money. There was nothing wrong with that. We got permission that it wasn't against -- we weren't breaking any rules.

Therefore, there was no guilt. So there should've been no penalty. It came across on television as stealing because that's the way it was promoted, but in no sense of what we did was stealing. We found money on the ground and unfortunately, there was some creative editing that happened. And honestly, we couldn't have controlled that. 
 
Reality TV World: Not to harp on the subject, but when I talked to Rob French and Kelley Carrington-French earlier in the season, they said they had no respect for you guys and the twins after taking the money -- and that although you two called yourselves "great American kids" and "Christians," your "true colors" came out this season. What's your reaction to that? Do you think they were being too harsh on you guys?

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: Yes, it was quite interesting. Everything that (laughs) that came out of Rob's mouth during the Race was a lie. (Laughs) He would say things just to get reactions out of people, and so, honestly, anything that he says I honestly can't trust.

He is definitely a character on the show for sure. But I mean, honestly, we know how we played. We know that we played fair. Everyone in production knows that we played fair, and we stand by that. We stand by Natalie and Nadiya.

We feel awful that Natalie and Nadiya have gotten so much -- I mean, we've gotten a lot of backlash from it, but they've gotten it 10 fold. Natalie and Nadiya are incredible people. They will always be very, very dear friends of ours, and we stand by our decision.

I called Abba after it happened, after the show aired, and explained it to him. I told him what actually happened, and after we ended our call, he was on the same page and understood what happened.

Because people need to remember that not everything they see on TV is factual. The Amazing Race, for the most part, I would say 99% percent of what you see is exactly how it comes across. But unfortunately, in that scene, it was shown incorrectly.

Reality TV World: Did you guys know about the alliance the "Chippendales" had initially formed with Abbie and Ryan and how close both those teams supposedly were to one another towards the beginning of the Race? Did you have to convince them to change their minds and join your alliance with Natalie and Nadiya, or how did all that unfold?

Trey Wier: We knew that the "Chippendales" were friends with Abbie and Ryan. We didn't really know that they had an alliance together. But as far as them, you know, joining our alliance, it wasn't like it was a master plan. We were all friends in the end, and they just decided to -- we all just decided to work together.

There's no convincing. There's no strategic alliance that we created. It was just friendship that we created during the show. So, you know, we think of it as more of friends trying to make it to the end rather than a strong alliance for strategic purposes.

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: And we all know that if Abbie and Ryan were in the same situation, they wouldn't have thought twice about it. So, at the end of the day, it's a race for a million dollars and that's why we're all on this show -- because we all are very, extremely competitive. It was a strategic move and I don't think any of us would've changed it at all.

Reality TV World: Looking back on everything, is there anything you would've done differently to better your chances of winning in retrospect?

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: Hmm, that's a good question.

Trey Wier: I think we might've paid attention to what they said at the end [of each leg] honestly, but...

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: (Laughs)

Trey Wier: ... other than that, no! We ran the Race exactly how we wanted to. We wanted it to be a fair, positive thing. And that's exactly what it turned out to be, you know? We didn't want to ruin anything in our relationship with us being overly competitive, but of course we wanted to win. So it worked out great for us. It created some long-lasting friendships we'll have forever and we had fun.

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: Yeah, we had an absolute blast. And knowing "hello" and "goodbye" in all the languages really would've helped us out! (Laughs) But other than that, I mean, I think we were very strong throughout the Race. I was overly impressed with how Trey handled everything.

He just really kept my emotions leveled and we grew so strong as a couple, and we cannot thank The Amazing Race enough for the incredible opportunity of being chosen and just giving us this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

It's been a dream of mine since I was 13, and it'll be something that we show our kids years on down the road. It was just very, very, very special for our towns and really the state of Texas, honestly.

Reality TV World: How were you cast on The Amazing Race? Would you ever consider competing on an all-stars edition if given the opportunity?

Trey Wier: We actually got on the show by waiting in line at a mall for about four hours. When we got up to the front of the line, they gave us a microphone, put us on-camera, and then we had a minute to sell ourselves. So, you know, it worked out for the best and we feel incredibly lucky and blessed to be able to have gone on the show.

It was one of the best experiences of our lives, and if we got to do it again, we absolutely would. We love to compete together, we love getting to travel the world, and I think it was a blessing -- and it would be an incredible blessing to do it all again. So, we would 100% percent love to do it again.

Alexis "Lexi" Beerman: Being chosen was just crazy after seeing it season after season unfold. It was just crazy that out of millions of people that applied, that Trey and I were chosen for this incredible, incredible opportunity.
