Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's revival will debut on HGTV next year, and the premiere date has been announced.

HGTV has announced its revival of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will premiere Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 9PM ET/PT.

"In 2020, viewers will witness the full power of massive, community-led home transformations each week," the network teased in a press release announcing the show's premiere.

In each episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, a deserving family, who often gives back to the community, will receive a home renovation customized to accommodate their wants and needs.

Each family will work alongside host Jesse Tyler Ferguson, volunteer neighbors, local building experts, celebrity guests, and the show's regularly-appearing designers -- Breegan Jane, Carrie Locklyn and Darren Keefe -- to create beautiful whole-home overhauls that include interior, exterior and landscaping.

Home renovations will be completed while the families are away.

Special guests who will make appearances in the HGTV revival include World of Dance judge and former Dancing with the Stars pro Derek Hough, carpenter and original Extreme Makeover: Home Edition host Ty Pennington, actor and comedian Anthony Anderson, country singer LeAnn Rimes, TV personality and former pro boxer Laila Ali, Food Network star Tyler Florence, and HGTV stars David Bromstad, Tamara Day, Tarek El Moussa and Jasmine Roth.

Jesse was revealed to be the new host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in June.

"I was so inspired by the original series and now I can't wait to help families as the new host of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," the 44-year-old Modern Family actor said in a statement at the time.

"Extreme Makeover: Home Edition helps local communities to remodel homes for people in need.

HGTV announced Extreme Makeover: Home Edition's revival in January, revealing that 10 new episodes would air in early 2020. The show originally aired on ABC for nine seasons from 2003-2012.

"We reimagined television's most iconic home renovation show. We cast Jesse as host, reviewed hundreds of deeply emotional family stories, added more special guests who have a passion to help others, and executed truly unbelievable, life-changing, whole-home renovations," HGTV President Jane Latman said in a statement.
 
"With help from more than 10,000 volunteers -- families, friends and neighbors -- sharing more than 560,000 hours of their own time, we improved the lives of 10 special families and created another can't miss television series on HGTV."

As part of the network's deal to revive Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, HGTV had also secured the rights to air repeats of 100 of the original show's episodes that previously aired on ABC.

The network also disclosed at the time it would feature "its own superstar experts" in the weekly race to complete a custom, whole-home renovation for a family.

At its peak during 2004-2005 season on ABC, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition averaged nearly 16 million viewers on Sunday nights.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will also be available on demand across all authenticated platforms and on the HGTV app.

The HGTV episodes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will be produced by Endemol Shine North America with Sharon Levy, DJ Nurre, Michael Heyerman, Brady Connell and Jesse Tyler Ferguson serving as executive producers.

Endemol Shine North America also produced the original version of the home renovation series for ABC.
