Chapman and his family were hunting a bail-jumper in May 2005, and Chapman's son grabbed Lutu believing he was the target, forcing a filmed confrontation.
Even after Chapman cleared Lutu with his family, the nightclub promoter was cuffed and held at gunpoint by both Daly City and Burlingame police over the next two days.
The paper said Lutu's lawsuit seeks damages from the 53-year-old Chapman, his bail bond company, the police officers involved and the A&E cable channel, which televises "Dog the Bounty Hunter."
