The couple began dating in the middle of 2016 after Christina separated from her business partner and estranged husband, Tarek El Moussa.
Christina and Gary "broke up because of too many outside pressures," an insider told Us.
The pair was spotted walking arm in arm near Gary's home in Yorba Linda, CA, earlier this month. A source told In Touch Weekly at the time that Christina and Gary "seemed so relaxed and comfortable together -- totally in sync... Christina looked adoringly at him. She was beaming!"
Before getting romantically involved, Gary reportedly worked on projects for the 33-year-old HGTV star and her family.
Although Christina and Tarek separated in May 2016 after an "unfortunate misunderstanding," they waited until December of that year to publicly announce their split.
Tarek officially filed for divorce on January 9 amid rumors of infidelity and drama on the set of Flip or Flop, but the couple has maintained a desire to continue working together and raise their children amicably in a healthy environment.
Tarek recently opened up to Us about what it's been like to work with Christina on Flip or Flop, as well as co-parent their two kids Taylor, 6, and Brayden, 18 months, in light of their marriage ending.
"It's like anything. You have good days and bad days," Tarek revealed. "It was a stressful time, but we had to do our job. Our job is to film a show and flip houses. But our most important job is to co-parent."
In a separate interview, Christina said she felt relief once their decision to divorce was no longer a secret.
"Like any couple, we had our share of issues... I think the separation process begins long before people actually separate," Christina told People.
"So by the time we officially did, I felt like a weight was lifted off me."
