Flip or Flop stars Tarek El Moussa and Christina El Moussa have announced they are separating after seven years of marriage.

The reality TV couple released a joint statement announcing their split, citing a previous altercation that resulted in police visiting their California home.
"Like many couples, we have had challenges in our marriage," Tarek and Christina told People in a statement. "We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution. There was no violence and no charges were filed."
The pair sought counseling to "sort out" the issues in their relationship, but decided "to separate while we reevaluate the future of our marriage."
Tarek and Christina said their two children -- son Brayden, 1, and daughter Taylor, 6 -- remain their priority and the house flippers, who wed in 2009, also plan to continue working together.

"During the process, we are committed to our kids and being the best parents we can be," the couple continued. "We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together."
The statement would seem to suggest Tarek and Christina have no intention to stop filming Flip or Flop for HGTV.
Back in May, police received a "call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun," according to TMZ, and 11 deputies rushed to the couple's Orange County home. Tarek allegedly ran out of the back of his house and fled down a hiking trail holding a firearm.
Witnesses reportedly say Christina then ran out of the home crying and shaking.
Tarek allegedly only dropped the weapon once a helicopter spotted him and officers demanded he do so. He told authorities following the incident he just wanted to "blow off some steam," the website reported, and never had a desire to hurt himself.
