"On The Next Food Network Star Adam exhibited a unique combination of quick wit, passion for food and an engaging personality," The Next Food Network Star judge and programming executive Bob Tuschman.
"He earned millions of fans across the country who have let us know that we have a second star in our midst. We feel this series is a perfect fit for his talents, letting him showcase his brand of humor while he works for food."
Will Work for Food will follow Gertler as he explores a variety of little-known jobs in the culinary world and introduces viewers to the people who work at the different professions on a daily basis.
Positions Gertler will undertake on Will Work for Food include feeding sharks, closely examining potato chips for flaws and trying his hand as a dog food taste tester.
The 30-year-old former restaurateur, server and actor from Philadelphia, PA was one of three The Next Food Network Star fourth-season finalists during last week's pre-taped finale.
Gertler and Lisa Garza subsequently lost to Aaron McCargo Jr., who is now starring in his own Big Daddy's House Food Network series which premiered this past Sunday.
