Food Network has announced the premiere of Dinner: Impossible, a new half-hour reality series that will test the culinary skills of one of the world's most respected and experienced chefs, Robert Irvine, as he tries to deliver a delicious meal in the nick of time.  The series will premiere on Wednesday, January 24 at 10PM ET/PT with special back-to-back episodes before it settles into its permanent time-slot on Wednesdays at 10:30PM ET/PT.

Billed as a "culinary James Bond," Irvine will be thrown a new cooking challenge each week, and with the help of his two sous-chefs George and George, must devise a plan to solve their various kitchen quandaries before time runs out. 

"[Irvine's] steely focus and culinary chops may be all that save him from disaster in each episode," said Bob Tuschman, senior vice president of programming for Food Network.  "We've thrown impossible challenges at him that no chef should ever have to experience.  But luckily for us, [Irvine] can never say no."

For example, one of this season's challenges asks Irvine and his team to make dinner for 150 passengers aboard a luxury locomotive -- with only four hours to devise a menu, shop for ingredients, prepare 600 hors d'oeuvres, soup and salads, and get most of the prep work done on the entrees. If he falls behind, he and his team will be left behind when the train leaves the station.  Once the train is rolling, Irvine and his team must maneuver around the unfamiliar confines of two very tight train cars to pull off a precision dining experience that includes a strictly regulated start time and requires he deliver the entrees exactly at the halfway point in the trip.

Born in England, Irvine has been cooking since he joined the Royal Navy at the age of 15.  He's since traveled the world as a culinary entertainer, from cooking for dignitaries aboard the Royal Yacht, Britannia, to traveling across Asia as a consultant. He has prepared meals for The Royal Family, as well as four United States Presidents. He's regularly invited to cook for heads of state, high ranking dignitaries, and celebrities in the sports and entertainment fields. He currently serves as director of food services and executive chef at Resorts Atlantic in Atlantic City and also owns his own multi-faceted company, The Irvine Group.
