Maybe seventh-season American Idol finalist Kristy Lee Cook should have "waited" after all.

Arista Nashville -- which had signed Cook to a recording contract late last spring then quickly released her "Why Wait" debut country album in September -- has confirmed that Cook is no longer with the label.

"Kristy Lee Cook has parted ways with Arista Nashville," a label spokesperson told Reality TV World on Thursday.

"Why Wait" was released on September 16 and debuted at No. 49 on The Billboard 200 album sales chart.  The album has since sold only about 25,000 copies since its release.  "15 Minutes of Shame," the album's first single, peaked at No. 28 on Billboard's country singles chart.

Cook, a 24-year-old from Selma, OR, finished seventh on American Idol earlier this year.  Her signing with 19 Recordings/Arista Nashville had been announced in June.

Ironically, this isn't the first time that Cook and Arista Nashville have parted ways.  Cook had also signed with the label as a 17-year-old back in 1999.  She was later dropped without having released an album.

19 Entertainment did not immediately respond to a message inquiring whether it is still continuing to work with Cook.
