A New York Daily News photographer, who snapped some shots of Jessica Simpson at a New York club, allegedly was jumped by four bodyguards, a report says.

The guards allegedly took his digital camera's memory card.

John Roca, a photographer for the Daily News, was invited by a club promoter to take shots of Simpson, 25, as she lounged on a divan outside a cabana about 2 a.m. Sunday at the Pink Elephant on Long Island, the newspaper said.

A publicist had told Roca that Simpson and Star Jones were both celebrating their independence -- Simpson from Nick Lachey and Jones from "The View."

The body guards grabbed Roca's camera and also snatched a memory card from his pants pocket, tearing a seam, the Daily News said.

"These guys jumped on me like a chicken on a June bug," Roca said.

Simpson spokesman Rob Shuter said the guards were not Simpson's but the club's. Pink Elephant sources said the security guards were Simpson's, the newspaper said.

Roca filed a police report on the loss of his memory card, which was still missing.
