According to the Chester County Coroner's office, Lancaster died in Phoenixville, PA, on March 29, Us Weekly reported.
Lancaster's family told TMZ that he was found dead at his home and the likely cause was heart failure since he had a history of arrhythmia.
The family also reportedly said drugs or alcohol had nothing to do with Lancaster's sudden death, as no substances were discovered in his home.
Lancaster appeared on Road Rules: Latin America, the seventh season of the MTV reality series, back in 1999. He was 23 years old at the time.

Lancaster competed on 13 different missions over the course of the reality show's 15 episodes, according to TMZ, as the cast traveled in Mexico, Costa Rica and the United States.
Lancaster's obituary was shared via the website of DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith and Boyd Funeral Home, and the former reality TV star was referred to as a "jack of all trades."
Not only did Lancaster work as an advertising account manager, but he also held down jobs as a telecommunications project manager, a special education teacher, and a bartender.
"A spiritual explorer, dreamy stargazer, inquisitive world traveler and barstool philosopher who enjoyed a good mind meld, Brian excelled at being a human being rather than a human doing," the obituary reads.
"Constant in his soul and spirit, he would share possessions, thoughts and every part of his essence with anyone who came into his orbit."

Lancaster is survived by his fiancee Sarah J. Bell, parents Dennis Lancaster and Carol Lancaster, godparents Ed Lancaster and Janice O'Hara, and his beloved dog Reagan.
Private memorial services were scheduled for Thursday, and in lieu of flowers, Lancaster's family asked for donations in his name to Brandywine Valley SPCA, a no-kill animal shelter in his hometown of West Chester, PA.
Lancaster's death comes less than a year after another Road Rules alum, Danny Dias, passed away at age 34 in June 2017.
