A TV producer charged in Mexico with killing his wife in Cancun was taken into custody by federal authorities in Los Angeles Tuesday, officials said.
The warrant, unsealed Tuesday, accused Beresford-Redman of killing Monica Beresford-Redman "by asphyxiating her" April 5, CNN reported.
Citing sources with knowledge of the case, the Los Angeles Times reported Beresford-Redman was alone at his home when he was arrested without incident and is scheduled to appear Wednesday in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles.
Beresford-Redman -- known for his work on the reality TV programs "Survivor" and "Pimp My Ride" -- is charged in Mexico with killing his wife Monica, whose body was found in April in a septic tank at the resort hotel where the couple had been staying with their two children while on vacation.
His lawyer, Richard Hirsch, told ABC News Beresford-Redman is not guilty and has said his client will fight extradition to Mexico."I am devastated at (Monica's) loss and I am incensed at the suggestion that I could have had anything to do with her death," Beresford-Redman said in a statement this year.
"I am innocent. My children have had one parent taken from them by a senseless act of violence. I implore the Mexican authorities not to take their remaining parent by a miscarriage of justice and to do what is right not just what is expedient."
