A TV producer charged in Mexico with killing his wife in Cancun was taken into custody by federal authorities in Los Angeles Tuesday, officials said.
U.S. marshals and FBI agents arrested Bruce Beresford-Redman at his home in Ranchos Palos Verdes on a warrant from Mexico, Beresford-Redman's publicist told CNN.
The warrant, unsealed Tuesday, accused Beresford-Redman of killing Monica Beresford-Redman "by asphyxiating her" April 5, CNN reported.
Citing sources with knowledge of the case, the Los Angeles Times reported Beresford-Redman was alone at his home when he was arrested without incident and is scheduled to appear Wednesday in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles.
Beresford-Redman -- known for his work on the reality TV programs "Survivor" and "Pimp My Ride" -- is charged in Mexico with killing his wife Monica, whose body was found in April in a septic tank at the resort hotel where the couple had been staying with their two children while on vacation.
His lawyer, Richard Hirsch, told ABC News Beresford-Redman is not guilty and has said his client will fight extradition to Mexico.
"I am devastated at (Monica's) loss and I am incensed at the suggestion that I could have had anything to do with her death," Beresford-Redman said in a statement this year.
"I am innocent. My children have had one parent taken from them by a senseless act of violence. I implore the Mexican authorities not to take their remaining parent by a miscarriage of justice and to do what is right not just what is expedient."
