Tara Durr and John Presser may have been unlucky when they appeared separately on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, however that doesn't mean the show didn't help them find love with each other off-camera.

Durr and Presser -- both of whom were eliminated during their respective season's first Rose Ceremony -- announced their engagement this past weekend at a reunion for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette alumni hosted by Jesse Csincsak in Breckenridge, CO, People reported Tuesday.

"We actually probably never would have met if it wasn't for the show," Durr told People.

Durr, a 29-year-old real estate agent from Florida, was ousted by Lorenzo Borghese during The Bachelor's ninth-season debut in 2006; while Presser, a 30-year-old pharmaceutical company marketer from Connecticut, was rejected by Jillian Harris during The Bachelorette's fifth-season premiere last year.

"It doesn't matter if you went home the first night or made it to the end, it's a special experience you shared," Durr told People.

"It's not like what you see on television. There's a lot you don't see. Their job is to pick the 25 most eligible people in their opinion -- they always throw a few Fruit Loops in there for some drama -- but it's kind of like they do the screening process for you. How would I have found this guy otherwise?"

The couple -- who got engaged in February -- first met via a private The Bachelor Facebook page last July.

"I think I said something like, 'Oh, you were a part of that crazy show, too? We just corresponded back and forth for about two months before we met," Durr told People.

"I have to have a guy with a sense of humor and John has that sense of humor. I don't like to be away from him. Before, I loved long distance because it gave me my own space, so I think everything was just different with him."

Presser said he was especially attracted to Durr because "her morals were there."

"She saved herself for marriage, and for a girl like her, extremely attractive, to save herself for marriage -- I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into, but it's impossible to explain," he told People.

"She loves to dance, she loves to have fun, she's social, we are great friends together, she doesn't drink alcohol, doesn't need it to have fun, she's just this perfect package. I'm just an extremely lucky guy."

While the couple didn't get engaged until February, Durr began planning the wedding in November, according to People, which added 30 of the more than 550 guests will be The Bachelor and The Bachelorette alumni -- including Csincsak.

"He's done so much for us," Durr told People.

"Jesse is kind of the Godfather of The Bachelor alumni," added Presser. "He brings everybody together."
