"Neither of us are particularly religious, but the service was probably one of our favorite parts," Matt told Us. "A small chapel beside this historic building. We were both surprised at how happy and emotional that service made us both feel."
The couple reportedly exchanged vows during an intimate wedding ceremony, and Matt said their nuptials were "spectacular -- for a variety of reasons."
"First, I married the love of my life," Matt gushed. "The second was that we were having terrible British weather and it was raining on Christmas Day. It was raining on Boxing Day. When I say it was raining, it was torrential. It was gray skies. It was dark and depressing."
Matt continued of the experience: "The heavens opened on the morning of our wedding day and it was just one of those beautiful crisp winter days. It was blue skies and the sun was so strong that you could really feel it on your skin. It lit up this old 13th-century building and it was already going to be beautiful, but just to have the sun light up the building it just made it extra special."
Matt also suggested he's never going to forget how stunning his bride looked that day.
"She had [on] what appeared to be a vintage dress, a really classic, beautiful dress. She just looked mesmerizing," Matt told the magazine.
Unfortunately, no one from Bachelor Nation flew to England for the wedding. Matt joked that his The Bachelor ex, Shayne Lamas, also "couldn't make it."
Matt announced his engagement to Rebecca in January 2017, although he actually popped the question December 24, 2016 in Australia, where the bride's family lives.
Matt reportedly met Rebecca at a local pub in the former Bachelor's hometown of London. He previously called their introduction "a refreshing change from TV and Tinder."
Prior to meeting Rebecca, Matt -- who works in finance -- was linked to former Bachelor Pad champion and The Bachelor bachelorette Natalie Getz in 2011.
And during his The Bachelor stint in 2008, Matt got engaged to Shayne, the daughter of soap opera star Lorenzo Lamas, as shown on the May 2008 finale. However, the pair called it quits on their relationship in July of that year after several months together.
