Former The Bachelor star Nick Viall has shared his opinion on news Colton Underwood quit the show towards the end of Season 23.

Nick, however, can sympathize with Colton given he didn't exactly have the easiest time filming The Bachelor's 21st season in 2017.
"There were certainly moments where I wanted to [quit]. I think every lead has had that moment -- it's a stressful situation," Nick admitted.
"The producers can select 30 amazing women or 30 amazing men, and they might not be your person... That's the stress of being the lead and the pressure of the expectation. You want to meet someone. There is the expectation of meeting someone. And there is some nervousness of, 'What if my person's not in this group?' It's a truly terrifying situation at times and it's stressful."
Nick noted that while's there's a contract for every Bachelor or Bachelorette, no one is "throwing that in your face."
"It's still real life, and the producers recognize that," Nick told ET.
Nick -- who got engaged to Vanessa Grimaldi on his season finale but split from her months later -- defended producers and said they recognize the pressure a lead is under and "do their best to help you through it."

"They are your friends and family. They're trying to work with you but you also have a responsibility and you can't take a day off. It's like, 'We have to do this,'" Nick shared, adding that sometimes he would ask producers for just "30 minutes" to himself.
"That happens sometimes, and sometimes there's not 30 minutes to spare... It's just a juggling act."
Nick acknowledged he's enjoying watching Colton's "entertaining" season unfold on TV, especially those "more authentic" moments when the former pro football player spontaneously sends women home, such as Demi Burnett when she visited his hotel room late at night in Vietnam.

"It seems more authentic, like, when you know, you know. You don't always have to wait for a Rose Ceremony," Nick reasoned. "I think Colton's doing a great job, but you can see the struggle."
Nick apparently had a lot of respect for how Colton handled Demi's elimination in particular after she told the Bachelor she was "falling in love" with him.
"Obviously the lead can't say, 'I love you' back, but if you really know you're not going to get there, it's the right thing to do to just be honest and send them home," Nick said.
"Good on Demi for trying to push [their relationship] forward, but those moments of realness in the relationship probably reminded Colton that this is not my person... Things are becoming more real."

But Nick admitted he was "bummed" Demi went home because she was "a big part" of the show for him.
"I liked her quick comebacks in the moment.... Her interactions with the other women, I found them entertaining," Nick expressed after comparing her to Corinne Olympios from his own The Bachelor edition.
Colton's The Bachelor season is heading into its seventh episode next week with only seven women remaining.
