Fox is apparently giving Idol Gives Back the same treatment as its MLB playoff coverage.

In addition, Fox has revealed the Children's Defense Fund, which provides underprivileged children an opportunity to succeed; The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, which raises funds and awareness for the aforementioned diseases; Make It Right, which helps New Orleans' families affected by Hurricane Katrina; Malaria No More, which aims to stop deaths caused by malaria; Save the Children, a program focused on helping youth in poor, rural communities; and the Children's Health Fund, which provides health care for families in need of it, will all benefit from the event's fund-raising efforts.
Previously announced celebrities participating in April's Idol Gives Back event are Bono, Brad Pitt, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Mariah Carey, Fergie, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Annie Lennox, John Legend and Snoop Dogg. Additional celebrities will still be announced at a later date.
Idol Gives Back's 2007 charity event aired over the course of two late-April Idol sixth-season episode broadcasts, and the event raised $75 million from both home viewer and corporate contributions.
In the U.S., Idol Gives Back supported various charities that aid underprivileged children, providing them with medical care; food and grocery products; health and life skills; literacy programs and obesity prevention; and other important initiatives.
The event also donated funds to charitable causes in Africa, such as organizations that support efforts to battle poverty through various health and education programs, including delivering medical supplies and providing clean water.
