Fox has confirmed recent reports that So You Think You Can Dance's sixth season will air in the fall as part of the network's 2009-2010 primetime programming schedule.

Speculation about Fox airing a fall edition of So You Think You Can Dance began last week when the network announced sixth-season casting call dates and locations, beginning on May 28 in Boston and ending June 24 in Salt Lake City.
Sources subsequently told The Hollywood Reporter that Fox was in fact planning to air So You Think You Can Dance's sixth season as part of its programming schedule this fall.
Fox has scheduled two-hour So You Think You Can Dance sixth-season performance episodes to air in the Tuesdays at 8PM ET/PT timeslot -- which will presumably overlap with Dancing with the Stars ninth-season results show broadcasts, assuming ABC keeps the show in its long-running Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT timeslot this fall.
So You Think You Can Dance sixth-season results shows will then air in the Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT and serve as the lead-in for Glee, a new scripted musical comedy.
So You Think You Can Dance's fifth season is currently slated to debut May 21.
In addition to So You Think You Can Dance's fall edition, Fox's 2009-2010 schedule announcement also announced that American Idol's ninth-season results shows will air Wednesdays at 8PM ET/PT next year -- one hour earlier than its current Wednesdays at 9PM ET/PT time period.
Human Target, a new action drama series the network will premiere in January, and Glee, a new musical drama the network will premiere after American Idol's final eight-season performance show on Tuesday, will air after Idol's ninth-season results show broadcasts in 2010.
Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares reality series -- which Fox had already renewed last fall as part of a large new deal with Ramsay -- will also each return with new seasons sometime during the 2009-1010 season, according to Fox.
