Fox TV has an outside investigator looking into charges levied by a former "American Idol" contestant against judge Paula Abdul.

Abdul will remain on the show until the investigator comes to a conclusion about Corey Clark's claims that he and Abdul carried on an affair -- and that she helped him during "Idol's" second season -- Fox Entertainment President Peter Ligouri told the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles.
"The credibility of the competition is extraordinarily important to us," Ligouri said Thursday. "And we want to make sure that there's a thorough inquiry."
Ligouri said Fox would release a full report when the investigation is finished.
