About 200 family members and friends attended Tuesday's funeral for former child star Corey Haim at the Steeles Memorial Chapel in his hometown of Toronto.

The "Lucas," "The Lost Boys" and "License to Drive" actor, whose once-bright career was eclipsed by years of substance abuse, died last Wednesday in Burbank, Calif., at the age of 38. The cause of his death has not yet been determined.

Mourner Maytal Kotler told the Toronto Star the 45-minute, private service held for Haim was "very sad but with a lot of laughter."

Fans paid their respects by quietly standing outside the chapel, the newspaper said.

"There were no Hollywood types there, just friends and family," an unnamed source told People.com. "It was invite only and very strict about entry. People came without invites and were turned away. The streets for blocks around the chapel were full of police guiding traffic. It was sad. The family is devastated."

Haim's lifelong best friend and "The Two Coreys" reality show co-star, actor Corey Feldman, released a statement saying he would not attend the funeral out of respect for Haim's grieving family, who wanted to keep the service a small private affair.
