Based on the original 1971 musical "Grease" and Paramount Pictures' 1978 film adaptation starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, Grease: Live is set to premiere Sunday, January 31 at 7PM ET/PT on Fox.

Dancing with the Stars judge Julianne Hough will play the lead role of Sandy, while actor Aaron Tveit will take on her love interest Danny.

Season 21 DWTS semifinalist Carlos PenaVega will play Kenickie, while many other celebrities are gracing the cast of this live production -- including actress Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo and singer Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy.

Once Danny and Sandy's summer romance ends and Sandy unexpectedly transfers to his school, Fox's description of Grease: Live reads, "Can Danny maintain his bad-boy image as the coolest member of the T-Birds, once he and Sandy start going together, and can Sandy remain a good girl after she joins the Pink Ladies? With their friends Rizzo and Kenickie pulling them in different directions, it's up to Danny and Sandy to stay hopelessly devoted as they make their way from Rydell High to a new frontier."

According to director Thomas Kail, Grease: Live will include songs from the original stage production as well as a new tune, sung by Jepsen, written just for this special event.

"It's one thing to shoot a movie or do a Broadway show. This is a combination of both. Cameras everywhere. We're going to be running from stage to stage," Hough said during the preview clip.
