As The Golden Bachelorette nears its finale, fans are wondering if Guy is going to end up being Joan's winner.

Joan gushed on the show about how Guy is handsome, fun and kind, but their relationship was behind Joan's connections with several other bachelors until the week of Fantasy Suites.

"It's been a slow smolder," Joan said of her romance with Guy. "He makes me feel wonderful and I can picture a life with him."

Guy, in turn, admitted his feelings for Joan were "really strong" and he was falling in love with her.

"I could see this going all the way. I forgot what it's like -- that crazy, can't get enough of them, sweaty palms," Guy gushed of his dynamic with the blonde beauty.

"It's those feelings you have when you're young that I thought I was never going to have again."

Joan said she could tell Guy was "all in" with her after their Fantasy Suite, and she looked forward to introducing him to her family.

Guy says he's looking for "The five Cs" in a woman

The Golden Bachelorette bachelor cherishes quality time with his kids

Guy is the proud dad of four children: sons Glenn and Hank as well as daughters Kirsten and Mackenzie.

Guy calls his children his "greatest accomplishment" in life.

Guy also has one grandchild named Idan through his oldest daughter Mackenzie, who works as a lawyer in Atlanta.

Guy often boasts about his children's successes and achievements on Instagram.

Guy initially wanted to take care of animals rather than humans!

Guy received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology/Animal Biology from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1982. He later earned his MD from the same college's School of Medicine in 1986.

Guy went on to pursue Emergency Medicine, and he completed the residency program at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1989.

The ER doctor has dedicated nearly 40 years to helping others

Guy works as an emergency room doctor for Northern Nevada Emergency Physicians, according to his LinkedIn.

Prior to his current gig, Guy worked as Chief of Staff at Renown Regional Medical Center from January 2005 to December 2007.

And before that, Guy served as the Medical Director for the Department of Emergency Medicine at Renown Regional from January 1994 to January 2005. He spent a whopping 11 years serving in that position.

Guy apparently injured himself while filming The Golden Bachelorette

Guy took to Instagram on September 4 and posted a photo of himself lying on the couch in a leg cast.

"During the filming of the Golden Bachelorette, I take full responsibility for thinking my body is 25 years old instead of being in my 'Golden Years,'" Guy captioned the photo.

"My left knee required surgery for a meniscus tear (cartilage). I'll be back to my old self in no time."

However, Guy had to postpone a trip to Africa he had originally scheduled for this fall due to his leg injury.

Guy was previously married to a political figure in Nevada

Guy is divorced from Heidi Gansert, a Republican politician in Nevada who began serving for the state Senate in 2016.

However, Heidi decided not to run for her seat again in the 2024 election.

According to an article in The Nevada Independent, Guy and Heidi were still together in 2017 and discussed being married for over 30 years.

Once Guy and his former wife became empty nesters, they split after 34 years of marriage and got a divorce. Guy said they lacked communication and spent three decades trying not to hurt each other's feelings.

Guy teases how his The Golden Bachelorette journey turned out

Guy recently posted on social media about his time competing for Joan's heart on The Golden Bachelorette.

"It was truly a transformational journey for me," Gansert wrote to his followers. "One that I can say sincerely changed my life for the better."

Guy later added in a separate post, "It was an honor to support Captain Kim with a song written for Joan from the Mansion Men... [And] I was humbled to be able to help Charles L finally understand and lift a heavy burden regarding the loss of his wife. Moments like these have made my Journey Transformational."

Guy's ex-wife Heidi had filed a restraining order against him

Guy's ex-wife filed a request for a restraining order in October 2021, according to court documents obtained by The Sun.

The filing states that Guy allegedly "physically tried to threaten" Heidi, who recalled having a startling encounter with the doctor.

Heidi claimed at the time Guy had approached her when she was entering her car with a female friend outside of a gym.

Guy allegedly spoke to the two women and then Heidi got out of the car and "realized he had placed something under the rear driver's tire."

Before she could take a look at the object, Guy allegedly removed it and began to "disparage" her.

"After disparaging me for some time and my now-boyfriend, he pointed his finger like a gun then 'shot' at me," Heidi wrote in her filing. "He motioned like he was going to shoot me with his hand shaped like a pistol."

Heidi claimed while this was the first time she ever felt threatened by Guy, he was "unstable" and had taken "Ambien at 4AM."

Heidi wrote in her filing, "He also said he took 10 pills. I don't know if the pills were all Ambien. He doesn't sleep and is extremely unstable."

Heidi also alleged that Guy had sent her "stacks of text messages" in Summer 2021 "trying to reconcile," before the October 2021 incident. Although Guy was allegedly trying to get Heidi back, she said he'd suddenly "flip to anger" when he wasn't getting his way.

"If needed, I can provide text messages and a video of adverse party trespassing on my property when he was aware I was not home," she wrote.

Heidi and Guy were supposed to have a hearing on November 3, 2021, but she ultimately decided to dismiss the application and not pursue action. She and Guy reached a "no-contact agreement," according to The Sun.

The temporary protection order was therefore never granted.

Guy addressed his ex-wife's restraining order

"This was an unfortunate situation that occurred during an incredibly stressful time for me and my former spouse and was ultimately resolved when she voluntarily dismissed her request for a protective order," Guy wrote in a recent Instagram statement.

"Together, we crafted a resolution that was agreeable to both parties."

Guy had apparently been hoping this protective order would not surface during his The Golden Bachelorette stint.

"My ex-wife and I recently asked the court to seal her application for the protective order as we had hoped to maintain privacy for our family," Guy continued.

"But, I know that being in the public eye comes responsibility."

Joan Vassos has defended Guy amid reports about his questionable past

Joan reacted to the restraining order that had been filed against Guy during a recent appearance on "The Viall Files" podcast.

"I feel like The Golden franchise is a little bit unique because we come here with a lot of past. We've lived a lot of life and it doesn't completely surprise me that, you know, people do things that maybe they're not proud of later on," Joan told host Nick Viall.

"When you agree to go on this show, you expose yourself to those things. The guys I got to know were gentlemen, and they were kind people. They were kind to each other and they were wonderful to me."

Joan continued, "I never saw that side of Guy or of anybody."

Joan explained how her interactions with all the guys were "pure and lovely" and that she "never had any indication that there was any kind of past" to worry about.

"I feel bad that he had a bad divorce. I didn't know about that. I knew that it was very difficult and he felt very guilty about breaking up the family because of the kids, but I had no idea what his interactions with his ex-wife were at that time," Joan explained.

"I never suspected that there was something bad [that happened]."

Joan insisted that Guy was "so kind" to her when The Golden Bachelorette filmed.

"And he was so open and he was so vulnerable. He cried," Joan recalled of her experience dating the ER doctor.

"He talked about, you know, finally feeling happy for the first time in so many years. I never in a million years would have guessed that there was any kind of past there."

Joan added, "I still believe that he's a really kind and good person. You know, maybe he made a mistake. I don't know. I don't know anything about [it] other than what you guys know also."

Joan said she also saw Guy's response to the news and it seems like things are "resolved" between the bachelor and his ex-wife Heidi now.

"It just unfortunately came out," Joan concluded.

Guy has admitted his divorce was "extremely difficult" for him

Guy admitted how his divorce from Heidi led him to "a very low point" in his life, according to his October 10 Instagram post.

"As a result, I acted in a way that does not represent who I am," Guy wrote. "The past few years have caused me to conduct a deep personal evaluation, and I will always continue to work to improve myself."

Guy said he appreciates all the support The Golden Bachelorette has given him, and he said Bachelor Nation is like an extension of his family now.

Guy is "in the process of transitioning" into retirement

Guy said he loves being a physician, especially in the trauma center as an ER doctor.

Guy has worked as an ER doctor for 35 years, but now he wants to work on his bucket list and enjoy more freedom and time away from his job.

Guy is transitioning slowly into retirement, and he's looking forward to more relaxing days and free time.
