Stefani, 46, and Shelton, 39, publicly acknowledged their romantic relationship in early November of last year after being photographed getting touchy-feely at a couple of different Halloween parties.
While Stefani definitely loves Shelton, a current coach on The Voice, she didn't want to gush about him.
"I don't really want to go into that relationship," Stefani told the magazine. "And God knows what's going to happen."
Her new relationship, however, has inspired many songs on her new album This Is What the Truth Feels Like.
"I'm in an amazing songwriting place; instead of being closed off, I'm thinking about positivity and how I can do something creative. I'm just doing what I want to do," the singer explained.
"It's so incredible to be in that zone. I'm lways looking for the next song, and now I don't have to be insecure or write about heartache... I've never had a record that is almost all about being happy and in love."
When Stefani's 13-year marriage to Gavin Rossdale ended, she said she was "so scared and insecure" about writing music. She thought it was "all over" for her. As previously reported, Rossdale allegedly cheated on Stefani with their children's nanny Mindy Mann, who is currently expecting her first child with boyfriend Spencer Gutcheon.
"I think the hardest thing I did was to get out of bed and go to the studio," Stefani noted, which was when she recorded the hit "Used To Love You."
"I went through a real period of anger, but I felt like this song was almost like a forgiveness song. It's admitting, 'I used to love you and now I don't.' I opened this channel to writing again -- it was me being honest, being real... I think my spiritual journey is to have had these weird relationships and write music that people can somehow relate to."
Before Shelton, Stefani claimed she only had two boyfriends in her life. The first was her No Doubt bandmate Tony Kanal and they dated for seven years.
"You have to understand where I came from. My parents fell in love in high school, and I grew up in a very conservative home -- family was sacred," Stefani said. "When I met Tony I was only 17, and I instantly was obsessed. It was the only relationship I had really ever had. And when we broke up, I met Gavin. I was so naive; I never even lived with a guy."
