After American Idol airs its fifteenth -- and final -- season, the award winning musician, singer, composer and actor will be starring in Harry, a new syndicated show sold by NBCUniversal to Fox-owned television stations for debut in September 2016.

The daytime entertainment show will draw inspiration from old family-friendly variety shows and feature segments ranging from comedic man-on-the-street interviews to live musical performances, parodies and hilarious stunts.

"I'm a lucky guy. I get to be a husband to a wonderful wife, a father to three incredible daughters, and an entertainer to the most amazing fans. And now, I'm honored to be able to put smiles on people's faces on a daily basis," Connick said in a statement.

Harry is being executive produced by Connick and Anne Marie Wilkins as well as brothers, Justin Stangel and Eric Stangel, a comedy duo who previously served as Head Writers for the Late Show with David Letterman.

"Working with the amazingly talented and hysterical Stangel Brothers is a dream come true. Harry will be an hour filled with fun, music and laughter. Fasten your seat belts -- it's gonna be one heck of a good time!" Connick concluded.

NBCUniversal President Ed Swindler said they couldn't be more excited to partner with Connick for this "multi-faceted" show.

"We believe Harry will emerge as daytime TV's most distinctive, talented, relatable, and consistently funny hosts," Swindler explained. "The Stangel Brothers' distinguished writing and producing achievements are second to none. They will add an engaging, upbeat, and comedic energy to this multi-layered program."

Frank Cicha, a Fox Television Stations executive, also added in his own statement: "We really look forward to Harry Connick Jr.'s next hit. In looking at the competition, we felt this was the right time for us to add a program like this to our mix."

Harry is being produced and distributed by NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution.
