Heidi Montag's mother Darlene Egelhoff doesn't have the highest of expectations for her daughter's marriage to fellow The Hills star Spencer Pratt. In fact, she doesn't even see the marriage lasting a year.

"Smonths," Egelhoff told Us Weekly when asked how long she thinks the couple's marriage will last during a cover story interview that appears in the magazine's new issue.
"I think it's the biggest mistake Heidi's ever made," Egelhoff told Us during the interview, which was conducted the day after Montag decided to skip Thanksgiving with her family and remained in Mexico, where she and Pratt had eloped the week before, for the holiday.
Egelhoff added that Montag had used to be her "velcro, always attached to me," but that her relationship with Pratt had led to a deterioration in their relationship as he has "tried to cut everyone out of her life."
"I've been honest with Heidi, and it's caused our relationship to decline," Egelhoff told Us. "I'm more devastated about that than the marriage, because I'm confident the marriage won't work out."

When speaking of Montag and Pratt's sudden elopement and wedding in Cabo San Lucas on November 20, Egelhoff -- who has had previous spats with Pratt on The Hills -- pulled no punches and even implied that Pratt may have gone so far as to drug Montag in order to go through with the wedding ceremony.
"He's manipulative and seems to have power over Heidi," Egelhoff told Us. "I would like to see a blood test from Mexico. It wouldn't surprise me if he had her drugged."
"God says love your enemies, but I never expected it to be my son-in-law," she added.
Montag and Pratt were initially engaged to be wed in May 2007, but called it off before resuming dating shortly afterwards. While vacationing in Cabo San Lucas at the One & Only Palmilla resort on November 20, the couple took part in a 15-minute wedding ceremony at a chapel at the resort with no family members or friends were present after Pratt had initially raised the idea as a joke.
Following the wedding, Pratt told Us that avoiding the drama of having family -- and particularly Egelhoff -- attending the ceremony had meant a lot to him and allowed him to focus solely on Montag instead of being distracted.

"There would have been nerves if [Heidi's] mother was sitting there, stressed out. Her dad, her sister, my sister, my nana - everyone would have been crying or yelling. All I want is Heidi. I don't see why you need people there to watch it," Pratt said.
However, last week the couple acknowledged that the ceremony in Mexico had been a symbolic one and that they had not yet become a legally married couple.
"We had a beautiful ceremony here ... officiated by a minister and photographed by the hotel photographer. We've never been happier," said the couple in a statement provided by Us, according to The Associated Press. "And, like other elopements that happen outside the country, we'll take care of the legal details when we get home."
