HGTV, the cable Home and Garden TV channel, is planning to launch a Web-only series, debuting with two shows next week on HGTVkitchendesign.com.

The shows were chosen partly because of the popularity of the topics with Internet users. "Backsplash" has reportedly ranked among the top search items on the broadband channel since its January debut, HGTV said in a statement.
TVWeek.com reported the backsplash series as eight Web episodes, while the kitchen remodel show, with 10 Web episodes, is meant to be a beginner's guide to kitchen remodeling.
