"Last season in Yellowknife, our truckers had narrow land bridges to escape to," History said in its announcement. "This season it's ice all the way, no land, no sanctuary."
Despite the new location, first-season drivers Hugh "Polar Bear" Rowland, Alex Debogorski, Rick Yemm and Drew Sherwood will all return for the second season. They'll be joined by newcomers Erik DuFresne and Jerry Dusdal.
The drivers will utilize a brief window during the coldest part of the winter to reach the remote communities and natural gas exploration sites located more than 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle. To get there, they'll battle Arctic storms that hit without a moment's notice, extreme polar conditions, isolation and the lack of basic comforts.
Ice Road Truckers is produced by Original Productions and executive produced by Original founder Thom Beers.
