Kris Allen and Adam Lambert competed head-to-head during American Idol's eighth-season finale, however their debut albums apparently won't do the same.

Lambert announced in a Wednesday morning Twitter post that his post-Idol debut album will drop November 24 -- a week after Allen's first effort is released on November 17.
Both signed a recording contract with 19 Recordings/RCA Records a few weeks after Allen defeated Lambert to take home Idol's eighth-season title.
In addition, Lambert's recording contract was announced on the same day he formally revealed he's gay in a Rolling Stone cover story interview.
In June, Hi Fi Recordings and Wilshire Records announced plans to release "On with the Show" -- an album that would feature songs recorded by Lambert before he was featured as an Idol eighth-season finalist.

Lambert subsequently expressed displeasure with the release of the material.
"The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on," Lambert said in a statement issued after Hi Fi's initial announcement. "Back in 2005, when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studio singer to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else."
However Hi Fi subsequently released its own statement in which it alleged Lambert's claims were false.
"Adam is now enjoying the success that he and Wilshire Records hoped for. However, he is now represented by high-profile companies who released a statement in Adam's name saying the songs on 'On With the Show' were recorded four years ago and Adam only contributed vocals. This is simply not true," Hi Fi stated.
In addition to claiming the songs were recorded much more recently, Hi Fi also stated Lambert co-wrote eight of the 11 tracks and they were "always meant to be released."

"As co-writer and performer, Adam will receive significant royalties just as any superstar artist would. He has the chance, finally, to make a fortune for his work -- definitely more with this album than through a major label deal," Hi Fi stated. "This pre-Idol work is a fantastic representation of who Adam is and what inspired him during the months before he became famous."
"On with the Show" has yet to be released despite Hi Fi's announcement that it would be available this summer.
