Produced by Lionsgate and Ish Entertainment, Paris Hilton's New Best Friend is currently slated to air sometime in 2009 on ITV2.
MTV ordered Paris Hilton's My New BFF in March, and the series will start with Hilton inviting 20 "potential best friends" to L.A., where they'll all live under one roof and compete in various challenges designed to test their "loyalty, endurance, and girl politics." The contestants will also learn the ins and outs of being a socialite -- from managing public feuds to surviving scandals.
The show's British version will follow the same format and begin filming in October, according to Variety, which added the U.K. show will also highlight more of Hilton's life in a "documentary fashion."
"We're working with producers in the U.K. who are highly familiar with the market and local sensibilities," Ish Entertainment's Michael Hirschorn told Variety. "Many of the challenges will be different because we're in the U.K."
Paris Hilton's My New BFF's MTV debut is slated for September 30, according to Variety, and as part of ITV's deal the network has also licensed the U.S. version.
In addition, if the British version is a success, Hirschorn told Variety its format could be exported to other international territories and added he's already received interest from other foreign broadcasters and producers about the show.
Paris Hilton's My New BFF and its British version are both co-created by Hilton, Hirschorn and Stella Stolper, all of whom also serve as executive producers.
