Jake Pavelka is upset about his recent split from fiancee Vienna Girardi but claims they will remain friends.

"I'm just saddened by the whole thing. But, you know, sometimes love just isn't enough in a relationship," Pavelka told TMZ on Tuesday after arriving at Los Angeles International airport.

"No matter what happens, Vienna and I will remain friends. No matter what happens."

Pavelka and Girardi issued a statement late Monday night confirming their split after reports began circulating that she told Greek actor Gregory Michael her engagement to Pavelka was off while attending the Children's Hospital of Orange County Oncology Prom near Los Angeles on Saturday.

When asked about the reason behind the split, Pavelka said it was "kind of a long story" and also dodged a question about who was responsible for it.

"It doesn't really matter," he told TMZ, which previously reported that it was Pavelka who initiated the split because he felt Vienna was cheating with Michael.

In addition, Pavelka declined to address a recent report that Girardi wanted out of the relationship because she felt he is a "fame whore."

"I'm not even going to comment on that," he told TMZ.

Pavelka presented his final rose and a marriage proposal to Girardi -- and she accepted both during March's The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love finale broadcast, which filmed last fall. The couple subsequently told reporters they "definitely" would wed.

Pavelka was returning to L.A. after filming scenes for a late-August episode of Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva.
